Hi, hei, and hello,
I’m Timo, a Finnish-American yoga teacher, born and raised in the U.S.A, and now living in Helsinki, Finland since 1996. My history with yoga starts in 2000, when I was first directed to a yoga class to help with my severe back problems. Many members of my family have weak lower backs and my inherited challenges were disabling my career as a musical theatre actor. Slowly but surely, yoga corrected the imbalances of my body and strengthened the deep muscles which have allowed me to continue dancing, singing, and performing.

In 2006 I was asked to teach my first yoga class. I was drawn to teaching from this experience and a couple of years later, I found myself enrolled in the rigorous teacher training program of Iyengar Yoga. In 2012, I graduated as a certified Iyengar Yoga teacher (R.I.M.Y.I. Pune, India).
Yoga has lead me from an Ashtanga to an Iyengar practice, and on to a new inspiration, Acroyoga. The performer in me delights in the dance which occurs between two or more students of acrobatics. The yogi in me finds deep satisfaction in the healing science of massage. My conscious rests in the fact that my Iyengar Yoga lineage is honored and preserved within the Acroyoga community. I was certified in 2013.
I invite you to come and share both of these practices with me.
Timo Kurvi
